8 Reasons That Will Make You Want to Move to Beauce

8 Reasons That Will Make You Want to Move to Beauce

To the south of Quebec City, in the administrative region of Chaudière-Appalaches, is the Beauce region, the province’s hidden gem. Don’t believe us? Continue reading to discover why you will fall under its spell!

1- Proximity to Nature

Beauce is full of parks and mountains where you can spend the day. Parc de Saint-Georges, in the heart of the city, offers 80 hectares of restful nature. There is also the Domaine Taschereau in Sainte-Marie, which is home to a breathtaking array of biodiversity with 37 different species of trees and 150 species of birds, as well as wetlands that are essential to our climate’s equilibrium. The more athletic can go for a long hike on Mont Grand Morne, in Saint-Mathilde-de-Beauce, or Mont Sainte-Marguerite.

2- A Haven for Outdoor Sports Enthusiasts

In addition to the multitude of mountains to explore, Beauce is the ideal place for cyclists! During the summer, take the Véloroute de la Chaudière, one of the most beautiful bike paths in the province. It covers a 146 km stretch from Saint-Lambert-de-Lauzon to Saint-Georges. Moreover, there are miles and miles of cross-country skiing trails to enjoy in winter. If cross-country skiing isn’t your preferred cold weather sport, Beauce is equally known as a skaters’ paradise, whether it’s the Espace Carpe Diem or the Bleuetière Goulet ice trail in Saint-Frédéric.

3- A Slower Place of Life Than in the City

This proximity to nature certainly gives the Beauce region a calm, serene and even magical atmosphere. Although its cities and towns provide all the services you need, you will still feel like you are living a small close-knit and human-scale community.

4- Strategically Located

In Beauce, a few minutes’ drive is all it takes to get away from your everyday cares and escape into the wilderness. Moreover, this region is less than an hour from Quebec City and 40 minutes from the American border. So, there’s no reason why you can’t enjoy the excitement of a big city for a few days (even though Ville de Saint-Georges is home to a wide variety of businesses and services) or discover new regions while on holiday. Especially given that Beauce is geographically located just below the Bas-Saint-Laurent and the Gaspésie regions. Very practical!

5- A Strong Economy and Lots of Job Opportunities

Did you know that the Beauce region had one of the lowest unemployment rates in the province? In 2019, people without jobs represented less than 2% of this RCM’s population. Furthermore, a great number of businesses open there every year. With its highly ranked École d’Entrepreneurship, after eight years, 94% of new businesses in Beauce are still active, unlike 24% in the rest of Quebec.

6- Access to Education

In addition to exceptional elementary and secondary schools, the Beauce region has a CÉGEP as well as vocational schools offering programs that are popular throughout Quebec. Alongside the École d’Entrepreneurship de Beauce, the CÉGEP Beauce-Appalaches boasts technical programs with competitive job placement rates.

7- Ample Entertainment Possibilities!

You have probably already heard about the excellent microbreweries and beer-producing farms in Beauce. If not, stop by Frampton Brasse for a dream evening on a patio in the middle of the countryside. If, on the contrary, you prefer history-focused outings, the miniature village of Baillargeon is the quintessential heritage activity. With 200 dwarf buildings, including 75 Victorian-style houses, young and old alike will be immersed in this tourist site’s a captivating world.

8- An Affordable Real Estate Market

Because Beauce’s major urban centres are separated by several kilometres, its homes, condos and buildings sell at attractive prices when compared to the real estate values of properties in metropolitan areas.

Whether you want to live there year-round or buy a cottage in the heart of nature, Beauce is the perfect choice. Contact a real estate broker who knows the region; they will help you find your next home.
